What We Believe

1. We believe that the 66 Books of the Old and New Testaments, commonly known as the Bible, being the Word of GOD, are uniquely inspired by the HOLY SPIRIT so as to be without any error in their original manuscripts and are the only and final authority in matters of faith and practice.

2. We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

3. We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, that He is true God and true man, and is the only and sufficient Mediator between God and man.

4. We believe in the personality of the Holy Spirit, and that His principal ministry is to reveal Christ to individuals in the regeneration and sanctification of their lives.

5. We believe that mankind was created by God in His image; that man sinned, thereby incurring spiritual death; that sin was passed to all people, making them totally in need of salvation.

6. We believe in the substitutionary death of the Lord Jesus Christ for our sins, in the resurrection of His body, His ascension into Heaven, and His personal and visible future return to the earth; and that salvation is received only through personal faith in Him.

7. We believe that Christ instituted two ordinances to be observed by the Church: Believer’s Baptism (Matt. 28:19) and the Lord’s Supper (1 Cor. 11:23-26).

8. We believe that believer’s baptism is a physical sign that gives witness to the washing away and forgiveness of our sins through Jesus Christ (Acts 22:16, Eph. 5:25-27) and testifies of our spiritual rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:5). This baptism is by water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Matt. 28:19). We believe that immersion of the believer is the best expression of baptism because it best symbolizes the believer’s identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ (Rom. 6:3-7), and his newness of life in Christ Jesus (2 Cor. 5:17).

9. We believe that the Lord’s Supper is a commemoration of the Lord’s death until He comes again.

10. We believe that the Church of Jesus Christ around the world and throughout the ages (the invisible, universal Church) consists of all those, and only those, who, by faith, have received Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord (Rom. 10:9). This one Church (Eph. 4:4-6) is the family and flock of God (John 10:16, Eph. 3:15), the body and bride of Christ (Eph. 1:22-23, 5:25-28), and the temple in which God dwells by His Spirit (1 Cor. 3:16, Eph. 2:19-22).

11. We believe that the local church is a body of baptized believers associated for worship (Heb. 10:25, Eph. 5:19-20), mutual strengthening in Christ (Heb. 10:24, 1 Thess. 5:11), service to others (1 John 3:18, Gal. 6:10), and the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the entire world (Matt. 28:18-20).

12. We believe in religious liberty. This includes the right to worship God according to the dictates of conscience, the privilege of reading the Scriptures for oneself, and the priesthood of all believers, that is, the direct access of each person to God through the sole mediation of Christ.

13. We believe in the autonomy of the local Church.
